In Outlook 2016 for Windows this option is not available, however you can drag and drop the email items to single folder or you can set the rule to move email from different account to single folder. Doing this in Outlook may cause sync issue for IMAP email accounts. When re-charged and re-started all outlook folders and email have gone. I can't go back on the time machine as its in Australia and I am now in the UK for the next month. And the servers that I have the email on aren't organized into folders its just 200,000 random historical emails as well as a older historical email from an old work email.
My Outlook Inbox view suddenly changed the last time I opened Outlook (using Office 365 ProPlus, version 16.0.6001.1034). I tried resetting the view, but that changed it to something other than what it used to be. The view in my Sent folder is what I'd like the Inbox to be. I tried saving that view as a new view, then applying it to the Inbox, which got me close to what I wanted. However, all emails were displaying in order of who they were sent to, rather than who they were from. Here's what it looks like now.
I've outlined in red things that have changed. My 'sort by' dropdown has disappeared (top-left blank area, as has the 'Newest/Oldest' text and sorting arrow. Anew line of icons has appeared beneath the Search field, and the font size of the sender and subject of the message have changed-they used to be on 2 lines, now they're on one line and the font size is smaller. And here's what my Inbox USED to look like, which is how I'd like to get it back to (this is now how my Sent folder appears): As noted, I tried creating a view of the Sent folder, then apply it to my Inbox folder, but that caused all emails to display by 'Sent To' as the default view rather than Sent From, and I couldn't get that to change and stick each time I'd close and relaunch Outlook.
I've tried restarting Outlook, running Quick Repair on Office 365, rebooting the computer, launching Outlook in Safe mode, messing with the View.nothing has allowed me to reset my Inbox to how I'd like it to be. Any ideas for anything else I can try?
I’ve got several mailboxes and additional pst-files in Outlook. The way in which they are sorted now doesn’t make much sense to me. Is there any way to change the sorting order of this list? You can resort your list of mailboxes and pst-files in the left panel of Outlook but the level of flexibility depends on your Outlook version. Luckily, it has been made very easy when you are using Outlook 2010 or later. Outlook 2010, Outlook 2013 and Outlook 2016: Drag & drop to resort In Outlook 2010, Outlook 2013 and Outlook 2016, the order matches the order in which you’ve originally added the mailboxes and pst-files. You can use the drag & drop method to resort this list.
When doing so, I’d recommend that you collapse all your mailboxes and pst-files first so that only the names of these stores are visible. This gives you a better overview and prevents some drag & drop mistakes. When dragging around a mailbox store, you’ll see a line becoming visible between two other stores, indicating that when you release your mouse the mailbox store will end up there. You can even place a non-default mailbox store above the default. This will for instance allow you in Outlook 2010 to place your IMAP account above the obligatory default pst-file. Easily resort your mailbox list with drag & drop.
In Outlook 2013 and Outlook 2016, you can even resort your folders and subfolders to any order you want in the same way. To quickly switch back to the alphabetical sorting order, use the “Show All Folders A to Z” button on the Folder tab. The default folders won’t be sorted alphabetically but have a static sorting order instead (Inbox, Drafts, Sent Items, Deleted Items, Calendar etc). Clicking the button again will “unlock” the sorting order and give you back the folder list as you manually sorted it. Outlook 2007 and previous: Alphabetically ordered In Outlook 2007 and previous, the list of mailbox folders and pst-files in your Navigation Pane is sorted alphabetically. So when you want to change the sorting order, you must rename the mailbox or pst-file.
An exception to this is the default mailbox store; This mailbox or pst-file is always listed first no matter what the name is. To change the display name of a pst-file, right click its top-level folder and choose Properties- button Advanced- tab Advanced- field: Name Outlook 2007 can only sort mailboxes alphabetically.
